The name

An old word for a long evening.

In Ottoman Istanbul, the Divan-ı Hümayun was the imperial council, and the long, cushioned bench that lined the walls of its chamber came to share its name. In 1828, London borrowed the word for the Grand Cigar Divan on the Strand, a smoking room famous for chess and conversation.

The Grand Divan brings that spirit to Warren, NJ: a salon of deep leather, lantern light and Turkish coffee, made for the unhurried hours.
